The Consumer Confident Report is required by The Safe Drinking Water Act of 1996. It provides the water customer the right to know and understand what is in their drinking water. The Consumer Confidence Report identifies the source of the drinking water. The treatment process used to purify the water and what the potential health effects could be.

The City of Rio Vista is looking to hire for Public Works

Maintenance Worker

Under general supervision, performs various semi-skilled and unskilled maintenance work related to the City of Rio Vista utility plants or other related areas. Performs other duties as assigned.

Employee will receive instruction, assistance or supervision on new or unusual situations as they arise. Employee will need to become fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the City.

DUTIE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform a variety of cleaning and maintenance activities and duties in the operation of the Water and Wastewater Plants and other city buildings.
  • Read water meters monthly and report to City Secretary.
  • Operate various light equipment.
  • Mowing and weed eating city owned grounds as directed.
  • Maintain and make minor repair to assigned vehicles, tools and equipment. Report major repair needs.
  • Adhere to safe work practices and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Methods and techniques of maintenance equipment operation.
  • Basic principals and procedures of record keeping.
  • English usage; spelling, grammar and punctuation.
  • Operation characteristics of various maintenance equipment and tools.
  • Occupational hazards and standard safety practices.

ABILITY TO:

  • Operate a variety of maintenance equipment in a safe and effective manner.
  • Perform heavy manual labor.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instruction.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade.
  • One year of general maintenance experience.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Must pass a background check.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

  • The physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by employees to successfully perform the essential functions of this class.
  • Maintain the physical capability to perform essential job task and responsibilities and be able to lift 25lbs or more.

Our General city 2018 election is fast approaching us. If you are interested in running for a council seat you are welcome to pick up a packet from City Hall. Packets are due back completed no later that February 16, 2018 at 5:30 PM. The last day to register to vote is March 6th. If you are already registered you should be fine, however if you are new to our area you will need to do a change of address.

Early Election Days are April 23rd thru May 1st 8:30 to 5:30 except for our 12 hour days.

Our 12 hour early voting days are April 24 and April 26 – 7:00am to 7:00pm.

Election Day is May 5th 2018 7:00am to 7:00pm.

All work will occur in the City of Rio Vista, Johnson County, Texas in the following locations:

● Tower Road from 1st Street to 115’east of Casa Vista Drive

Project size:
Approximately 0.87 acres.

Funding:
Project will cost $288,750 and will be paid for with $275,000 in HUD CDBG grant funds administered by the Texas Department of Agriculture and $13,750 in local funds.

Its that time of year again for our Rio Vista General Election. The following places will be on the ballot for the election for the 2017-2019 term:

The deadline to run for council is February 16th. Packets can be picked up at the city hall between the hours of 8:30am and 5:30pm from January 17th thru February 16th. If you have any questions, contact city hall at 817-373-2588.
