Police Officer

The City of Rio Vista is looking for a full time Police Officer with small town values, dedication, and commitment. The purpose of this position is to protect life and property, assist victims of violent crimes, apprehend criminals, prevent crime by pro-active law enforcement methods, and enforcement methods, and enforce State laws and City Ordinances. Also, answer calls for services and 911 calls, investigate traffic accidents, gather information, investigate all complaints, serve warrants and arrest subjects. General patrol of the City of Rio Vista. The officer will establish a positive relationship with the citizens and business owners of Rio Vista and perform other job duties as assigned by the Patrol Sergeant or the Chief of Police.

The officer will perform self-initiated patrol activities by actively looking for violations of state statutes, traffic laws, and City Ordinances.   The officer will enforce traffic laws through traffic stops and issue citations if needed. Officer will conduct basic preliminary investigations by responding to incidents or accidents. Officer will address complainants and receive statements from victims, witnesses, and possible suspects and make lawful arrests if needed.

Officer must be a team player, willing to work well with fellow officers and City staff. The Officer must be able to read and write the English language and complete detailed reports in a timely manner. Officer must be able to present cases to a Grand Jury and testify in Municipal, County and District Courts. The officer must be willing to work shift work, weekends, holidays, and from time to time overtime. The Rio Vista Police Department works rotating shifts. Officer must live within a 30 minute drive time from the city in order to respond quickly in an emergency situation.

City Trash Pickup

Just a reminder that trash is picked up on Monday morning.  The trash company requests that you have your trash set at the curb no later than 7:00am.  Be sure to have all tree limbs cut in manageable sizes so it can be easily picked up.

Rio Vista – Fire

We would like to send a big thanks to the Rio Vista Volunteer Fire Department and Rio Vista Police along with the additional area departments (Cleburne Fire, Liberty Chapel Fire,  Constable Prescient 1, Dupties and Troopers)  that helped contain the fire today.
