The deadline to run for council is February 15th. Packets can be picked up at the city hall between the hours of 8:30am and 5:30pm from January 16th thru February 15th. If you have any questions, contact city hall at 817-373-2588.
The city is under a boil water notice due to the fiber optic crew his a water line on 916 and Cleburne Whitney Rd. As soon as we get the results back from the lab we will update via mass notification, Facebook and the city website.

A friendly reminder to the citizens that Firework are prohibited from being discharged within the city limits of Rio Vista. Outside of the City Limits, Johnson County does have a burn ban in effect, but that does not include fireworks. Please use caution due to the extremely dry conditions, which are a fire hazard. The Consumer Confident Report is required by The Safe Drinking Water Act of 1996. It provides the water customer the right to know and understand what is in their drinking water. The Consumer Confidence Report identifies the source of the drinking water. The treatment process used to purify the water and what the potential health effects could be.

The City of Rio Vista Police Department is looking for a full time Police Officer
The City of Rio Vista is looking for a full time Police Officer with small town values, dedication, and commitment. The purpose of this position is to protect life and property, assist victims of violent crimes, apprehend criminals, prevent crime by pro-active law enforcement methods, and enforcement methods, and enforce State laws and City Ordinances. Also, answer calls for services and 911 calls, investigate traffic accidents, gather information, investigate all complaints, serve warrants and arrest subjects. General patrol of the City of Rio Vista. The officer will establish a positive relationship with the citizens and business owners of Rio Vista and perform other job duties as assigned by the Patrol Sergeant or the Chief of Police.
The officer will perform self-initiated patrol activities by actively looking for violations of state statutes, traffic laws, and City Ordinances. The officer will enforce traffic laws through traffic stops and issue citations if needed. Officer will conduct basic preliminary investigations by responding to incidents or accidents. Officer will address complainants and receive statements from victims, witnesses, and possible suspects and make lawful arrests if needed.
Officer must be a team player, willing to work well with fellow officers and City staff. The Officer must be able to read and write the English language and complete detailed reports in a timely manner. Officer must be able to present cases to a Grand Jury and testify in Municipal, County and District Courts. The officer must be willing to work shift work, weekends, holidays, and from time to time overtime. The Rio Vista Police Department works rotating shifts. Officer must live within a 30 minute drive time from the city in order to respond quickly in an emergency situation.
